Frequently Asked Questions

UltraPower

Q. How is UltraPower different than other power and fuel saving devices?
A. Handheld and other add-on units can only make about 14 input changes, they do that by "fooling" the computer into receiving altered sensor input information. UltraPower makes over 400 parameter changes within the computer allowing it to interpret sensor inputs as they actually are. This helps the computer make more intelligent decisions on how to manage fuel and power production.

Q. Why isn't this done at the factory?
A. The tuning we do is customized to a number of conditions like fuel octane used, vehicle weight, tow vehicle weight, air fuel ratios under heavy load, and many other variables the factory cannot anticipate. Tire size, speedometer accuracy, fuel tank size, differential ratios and speed limiters can also be modified upon request.

Q. Will programming void my warranty?
A. No. All programming changes have been dynamometer tested to ensure they don't exceed the engineered limits of the engine and transmission. Warranties legally cannot be voided because of a change that is made unless it can be proven that the failure was directly related to the aftermarket part. Abuse (making something do something it was not designed to do) is generally the reason cited for voided warranties.

UltraTrac

Q. Why doesn't the motor home manufacturer install these upgrades at the factory?
A. The manufacturers know that most people buy their RV's primarily based on the floor-plan. The RV industry is highly competitive and will trim costs anywhere it can and still have a sellable product. As RV buyers demand better drivability the manufacturers have added some upgrades that used to be available only in the after-market.

Q. What benefits can I gain by upgrading?
A. A much more comfortable and controllable driving experience. By not having to fight a coach with a "mind of its own" you will enjoy less fatigue and a safer journey. There are also benefits to the durability of your coach by not allowing excessive sway and extension/compaction of the suspension system.

UltraStop

Q. Why should I install a braking system on my towed vehicle?
A. Safety is the biggest reason. A coach traveling with a 3000 lb tow vehicle takes an additional 1/3rd distance to stop. At 60 mph that could be an additional 100 feet! The addition of a tow brake system will also give you a much more controlled stop. With the addition of a break-away you will also have the added protection of your tow vehicle coming to a stop should it come loose.

Q. What is the difference between proportional and non-proportional braking systems?
A. Proportional systems are usually tapped into the coach's braking system. As the brakes are applied on the coach, the towed vehicles brakes are applied at the same rate. In other words, if you are 30% into the coach's Brakes, you will be 30% at the tow vehicle. This type of system is active all the time.
Non-proportional brake systems are generally a unit that incorporates a sensor that detects that the vehicle is slowing and applies the brakes. These systems are mainly designed to activate under heavy braking situations, they don't operate under light braking or slower speeds.

Q. What are the laws requiring there use?
A. Laws vary from State to State and in Canada. In most cases the laws are not actively enforced until an accident occurs. Entering Canada requires tow brakes, the requirements vary in each Province. The best bet is to have them - not because of laws but because of safety! (see the State and Province requirements)

UltraComfort

Q. Why would I want to upgrade the mattress in our RV?
A. Let's face it-most people don't object to paying for a high quality mattress for their home, yet they feel the need to be "satisfied" with what came with their RV! Yes, you can have the same comfort while in your RV. We have designed a number of dual adjustable mattresses for any RV, including the Trek motor home.
