After extensive research and development Brazel's RV Performance introduces the UltraPower/Allison GradeBrake feature for the 2001-2004 Workhorse W-Series chassis. This feature is a factory option on model years 2005+ Workhorse chassis', and most customers rave about how well it works on steep hills and maintaining braking force without using the service brakes. This system is designed to use the Allison transmission as a controller of speed on downhill decents. When engaged the GradeBrake automatically downshifts with service brake application. It will continue to downshift depending on the aggressiveness of brake application and aid tremendously in safety and comfort when descending hills. It will also put less stress on the service brakes, thus prolonging the life of those components.
